Our Mission

To help and make a difference around rural areas around the world. With our specialty being in construction we assist with the new construction of schools, orphan care centers, churches, water wells and other necessary structures.

Founders

Shelter Them Ministries was founded by Bud and Malinda Kick in 2011. Their passion to help impoverished nations was birthed from a mission trip they took in 2004 to Africa. The compassion they felt for the people in need living in those rural areas sparked a new journey that was placed on their hearts by God. Since them they have gone to Africa many times and continue to build and train them to build in the area. God has placed it upon their hearts to continue in their mission where ever he may lead them.

Ethan and Collins

Ethan and Collins both come from the The Kingdom of Eswatini and joined Bud and Malinda in the construction field while they were serving there. “They became invaluable workers with strong work ethics. After our returning from Africa to the States, God placed it upon our hearts to bring them with us and place them in seminary school. Since then it has been placed on our hearts to bring them over to the States and to train them in sound biblical doctrine.” - Malinda Kick

Annessa Myricks

Hello my name is Annessa Myricks and this is my story. l never never have imagined that 2 years after graduating from bible school that I’d embark on a journey that would change the course of my life.

During the summer after my 4th semester of school, I spent 2 weeks on an outreach to Hollywood California where I would truly get to know Ethan and Collins, two incredible friends from The Kingdom of Eswatini. Sometime after coming back from mission Hollywood they introduced me to their “American parents” Malinda and Bud kick the founders of Shelter Them Ministries. They all quickly became family and the hosts of many of our game nights.

In September of 2019, The Kicks invited me on a journey to Eswatini, after much prayer and consideration I said yes, the “yes” that would change my life. On December 28th the journey began! The entire trip I felt God saying come expectant and I did. I did’n know what to expect but I knew with all of my heart that it would be life changing experience. From the moment I stepped foot in Africa I knew there was something different about this mission. Whether I was assisting in building the church, worshiping with the kiddos or meeting and getting to know the beautiful people of Eswatini,  I fell in love with it all . During my first week there I called my mom crying and these were her exact words to me “Annessa, I know you’re not coming back, you’ve found your home and I’ve made peace with God about it.” Since that day I knew that’s where I was supposed to be. I came expectant but what I didn’t not expect was to find a new place to call home.

On May 28th, 2020 I’ll be returning to Eswatini in hopes of starting a children’s ministry in One Cause Eswatini as well as coordinating for the short term mission's teams to come. Who knows, maybe one day you will be one of the people on the team! I have a short time to prepare for my move and excited does not even begin to describe how I feel about this adventure. I don’t know how all of this will work out but I trust God and I’m grateful he has partnered me with Shelter Them Ministries on this journey. Eswatini, I’ll see you soon.
